DIWALI MELA 2013

The two days Diwali Mela 2013 on the 26th and 27th of October was organised by Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Australia and Liverpool City Council. The Mela now in its seventh year attracted a crowd of 5000 people on Saturday night.

Throughout the two days crowds were entertained by dance performances, singers, Ramayan play, classical indian and bollywood dances. Tirikuttu performance by Sydney There Kutu Society Inc. on Saturday night was a great hit with the crowd.

Foods stalls selling a range of freshly cooked Chinese, Punjabi, Indian foods kept the crowd fed and happy. Other merchandise ranging from soya candles, Organo Gold coffee, puja items, indian clothing and jewellery, toys, fresh juice, and henna decorations were also on sale.

Seven prominent advocates and leaders of the Hindu community were acknowleged and honoured for their tireless work in promoting the Hindu religion and keeping the faith alive.

Sunday afternoon saw the culmination of the Mela where Nisha was crowned Miss Deepawali 2013 and Rani crowned Miss Charity Queen 2013.
